Met Office in the Media: 09 March 2011

On Tuesday BAA provided evidence to the transport committee on the winter weather, in which BAA, Heathrow’s owner, told MPs its winter weather plan was overwhelmed when at least 9cm reports the Guardian and the Daily Telegraph.

News coverage widely focused on suggestions that operators planned for the wrong amount of snow focusing on winter resilience plans that focused on falls of 6cm of snow.

The Met Office provided good advice throughout the winter, with forecasts for the day in question highlighting the risk  of between 10-15cms of snow.
